Tubby Smith and the Gophers

Something happened yesterday in the middle of all the NFL hoopla. The Minnesota Golden Gophers came of age. This team is pretty young and has been counting on Junior Collage tranfers Devron Bostick (7-for-8 shooting, 19 points) and Paul Carter (5-for-6, 14) to come through and they did coming off the bench. Devron finally looks comfortable on this team now. If these to can continue to grow and put up numbers, the Gophers may be contenders for the Big Ten Title a year earlier the expected.
In watching this game it took me back to the Clem Haskins days. They were a up and down team and looking to make the extra pass to get the open shot. It is looking more and more like the trade mark of this team is going to be the defense. Every time the Gophers went into the Full Court Press, Penn State had no answer. The Defense was smothering, it was a mixture of great one on one D and awesome team D. I must admit I stopped watching the football game to watch the Gophers. I can tell you it has been years since I have done that. It is looking more and more like getting a ticket to Williams Arena is going to be hard to get.

Nice job Tubby, Thanks for putting Gophers hoops back on the map
